L7 Facts: Adventure Date Edition

  • When we were shooting the scenes in Wayne’s truck, I laid in the truck bed listening, and poked my head through the window to direct.
  • The top half of the water tower is fake. I made it in photoshop. Now you can’t un-see it.
  • Production Designer Elie sliced her heel on one of the support beams and had to get stitches a couple days later. She bled all over the street. It was very hardcore.
  • The bathrooms are about a block away, so everyone at one point or another, peed in the bushes.
  • Originally, the water tower was supposed to be locked up. I swear I remember a latter being there. We had to rewrite the scene on location.
  • The location we’re shooting at used to be a collection of small houses our friends lived in we called “the Ranch.” We lost it in a forest fire a few years ago. Besides having the best parties, The Ranch was the site of one of our earlier web series, Mountain Man, so I spent a lot of time up there. Wayne and Zelda kiss in what used to be Sound Guy Kevin’s living room. This was the first time I’d been back since the fire.
  • There is no cell phone reception in that valley.
  • We lose light at about 4 PM in that valley, so by the time we were shooting the cop scene, we barely had any light. All the cop interactions were single takes. Good thing Matt Hannon nailed it.
  • Yes, Zelda’s final line is a Star Wars reference.
  • The secret annotation is on Wayne’s “I think I love you” line.
