True Facts about episode 20: Just Do It

  1. This episode is loosely inspired by a story Producer Jasmine once told me from her high school days. It’s also shot in her childhood bedroom, so the scene is literally taking place in the same location.
  2. MK’s face was super red from all the making out. I think we had to put on extra foundation afterwards.
  3. On the final take, David almost made me spit my coffee out, it was so funny.
  4. The table they’re sitting at at lunch is the same one from Cougarville.
  5. The final scene was originally conceived for the trailer, but it didn’t fit in this episode, so we re-shot it a year later.
  6. The original line was “Sid loved Nancy” and not “Apollo loved Starbuck”, and we knew that Zelda wouldn’t care about the Sex Pistols. It was Nick Thurkettle who came up with the BSG reference on set that day.
  7. We add a dog barking in the background of Zelda’s bedroom scenes consistently to set tone and locale. I like to imagine it’s Percy’s dog Copernicus, sensing an intruder from blocks away.
